It depends on the species and how many you keep.
No permit is required to keep Unprotected or Exempt reptiles.
No permit is required to keep one Basic reptile.
A permit is required if you keep, sell or give away more than one Basic reptile.
Yes, our goal is to make sure every reptile goes to a safe, well-prepared home.
If a permit is required, it must be provided at the time of purchase.
Our team will check that you have a correct and suitable set-up, including appropriate heating and UVB.
If you’re not purchasing your set-up from us, we’re happy to review photos of your enclosure and equipment to ensure everything is suitable.
Reptiles will only leave the store once we’re confident their heating, UVB and overall husbandry requirements are met. This helps set both you and your new reptile up for long-term success.

Unprotected and Exempt reptiles in South Australia do not require a keep permit.

Bearded Dragons
Arguably, the most popular pet reptile in the world. Bearded Dragons (Beardies) belong to the Agamidae family. They are diurnal (active during the day), oviparous (produce young via laying eggs), and omnivorous (eat plant and animal matter) too!
