Why Bearded Dragons Make Great Pets
The Central Bearded Dragon has earned its reputation as one of Australia’s most popular pet reptiles. Beardies are known for their calm nature, curious personalities and interactive behaviour, often becoming more confident and social with regular handling.
Unlike many reptiles, bearded dragons are diurnal, meaning they are awake during the day and sleep at night. That makes them a great fit for families, busy households and first-time reptile keepers who want a pet they can interact with.
Picking Your Bearded Dragon
Choosing a baby beardie involves more than selecting a colour or pattern. Age and size do not always correspond because growth depends on genetics, diet, heating and early care.
For this reason, we focus on each dragon’s health and condition rather than age alone. Most of our baby beardies reach approximately 15 cm in total length before going to their new homes.

This 60 × 45 × 45 cm Reptile One setup is designed for baby and juvenile bearded dragons. It provides the essential heating, lighting and equipment needed for a safe start.
A thermostat and timer help maintain safe temperatures and a consistent day–night cycle. The radiant heat source can also provide warmth overnight when needed. Meanwhile, the 26 W 10% UVB globe supports calcium absorption and healthy bone development.
A grass mat substrate helps reduce the risk of impaction in young dragons. The included dual-probe thermometer monitors the temperatures in both the basking and cool areas.
The kit also includes basking wood, a hide, climbing décor, feeding accessories, supplements and cleaning supplies. Many of these items can be reused when your dragon moves into a larger enclosure, usually within 12–18 months.
